During the month of February, we often celebrate the love we have for those special to us. Unfortunately, there are times when the love we feel for someone can be overcome with grief and the heartache of losing them. One of our doulas and fellow loss mom, Sydney, is honoring the memory of their daughter Lilly through the 4th annual Lilly’s Love Day Project.
Here is a little more from Sydney, Lilly’s mom:
“It’s hard to believe, but February will mark 6 years since I lost my precious daughter, Lilly. Nearly six years ago, I was a 19 year old nursing student who went through losing my baby alone. I eventually found support groups to help process my grief and was connected to the Pittsburgh Bereavement Doulas through my work as a Labor and Delivery nurse. While the pain of losing Lilly will always be with me, I’ve found comfort in honoring her memory and helping others who have walked this path.
In memory of Lilly, I’m once again hosting this event and I’d be honored for you to join me. From February 21-23, 2025, I will be personally creating custom flower bouquets to families in the Pittsburgh area who have experienced the loss of a child. The inspiration behind each bouquet is your beloved baby, whose time here was far too short.
These bouquets are not just flowers—they are a symbol of love, remembrance, and support from one loss-mom to another. Each arrangement will be crafted with care by me, Lilly’s mom, and some wonderful volunteers with the hope that it brings a little light into your heart during such a difficult time. This event is my way of keeping Lilly’s love alive and offering a small moment of light to others during their darkest times.
This event has been incredibly meaningful to me over the years, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to honor Lilly’s life by helping other moms feel seen and supported. No parent should walk this journey alone. It is always an absolute honor to get to know your babies through making these bouquets.”
